Meet Africa’s fastest man

Akani Simbine is the fastest man in Africa. Fresh off winning gold in the 100 metres at the Commonwealth Games, Simbine was selected as one of a handful of elite athletes featured in Mercedes-Benz’s global C-Class campaign. In the lead up to the South African launch, Ginkgo Agency created a short film and campaign assets that aimed to introduce, educate and endear an audience to Simbine.

The short film is an emotive portrayal of the man and the explosive representation of his power and drive. Through short statements voiced over conceptual portrait-style camera framing, Simbine introduces himself to the South African audience. He shares his journey, challenges, trigger points to success, his determination, and the will to be the fastest man alive. There is only one way for this young man to fulfil his dreams.
